Amazon is making it easy for automakers to integrate the company’s Alexa digital assistant into cars.

BMW, Ford, Toyota, and other carmakers are working with Amazon to integrate Alexa.

Alexa Auto will include support for features like calling from phones and navigation using GPS systems, and the ability to perform local searches for restaurants, movie theaters, and other businesses. You’ll also be able to use Alexa to stream audio from Amazon Music, Audible, and iHeartRadio.

Toyota is building Alexa into its Entune 3.0 infotainment system (which also includes Apple’s CarPlay support), and Panasonic is bringing Alexa to its future in-car infotainment systems. Anker and Garmin are also creating aftermarket devices that plug into cars to bring Alexa to older vehicles.

It will take some time for developers to get familiar with Alexa Auto, so we’ll likely see more cars ship with Alexa in late 2019 and beyond.

I do question the Amish. They seem to have various rules. They will build you a great deck and have a phone along with electric in the barn. They will build you that deck with electric tools along with a few that seem to have cell phones. I just shake my head and live with the good woodwork and whoever that guy which shows up with a Ford van full of them (he's not Amish but is allowed to drive them around) and towing a trailer with their stuff.

Yes, but the AMISH in wide radius of me are allowed to use any electric or gas powered tool or technology that exists as long as they don't own it. Most of the Amish here either work in Carpentry / Home improvement or actually work in factories in addition to working tech-less on their own farms. But... then you have the young Amish with 1000-Watt stereo systems in their buggies coming down our roads drunk at 1:00 in the morning blasting rock and metal. . Oh well..
