"Alexa, curse appropriately at the people that don't understand the concept of a STOP sign... or turn signals"

It's interesting because the Mennonites love to ride bikes with home made trailers on them. Then the Amish use those buggies. Both relate to the people that pay zero road tax and clog up our roads. As for the Mennonites, I fixed one of those bike trailers they have because one broke down right down from my house. Seems that they (the Mennonites) didn't mind me fixing it with my welder and getting it back on the road. Probably because I bought a dog from them about 15 years ago and get fresh eggs on a weekly basis from them. They love taking cash for something that the tax man can't go after too. Maybe I need to take that up that other level of tax evasion they enjoy.

Last I looked, bartering is not illegal. Even if it involves cash. The real question then becomes "when is it considered income?". For the most part it is a non-issue. They typically don't make enough that the taxes would amount to much. No, we need the rich and the super rich to somehow distribute their money to the lower incomes. What was that saying about robbing banks? Oh yeh, because that's where the money is.

Cash for a service or product is not barter. Then even bartering is a problem because there was a number of websites that jumped on that bandwagon. Took about two years before you had to start filling out a form with them for the IRS. I know, i had a guy that I did some work for that was all over this company that was online and he wanted to barter for everything. It was tax free and he was ready to go. The excitement dropped once the scam was revealed and the IRS determined that people were way under reporting what they were getting or receiving. Lesson learned, the IRS has internet access.

As for using local and things like eggs it's something that will never be caught. They don't go and open up a tax free eggs website. As for decks, well, they make lots of their own products thus it's hard for them to figure out material costs. Plus it's like with landscapers that hire Mexicans. It's all cash. That is still a tax problem for the landscaper, thus they have to invoice the job accordingly.

I wish the the original swap meet concept would come back. When was the last time you went to one and tried to "swap" something?
They will sell, but won't swap. OTIK

That's true and the reason I don't go anymore. It's now, I have some garbage to sell. Wanna buy it? I think the last swap meet i went to and actually swapped something was back in the 80's where I got an Alpine head unit because I had a set of speakers I didn't need anymore.
