I say skeptical because I don't think we will see this car under 10,000. if and when it comes to market, but then every new car detroit has ever proposed is always introduced to have a price that never seems to happen. I paid my 100.00 non refundable because I want to support this and if it does happen, I do want one.

To put things in perspective I have a Chinese Kandi 3 wheel 250cc trike that cost me $4500 as a dealer. no AC/ a scooter CVT. Very very basic. Can Elio build somehtin with a mult cylinder engine, front wheel drive, A/C for just 2500 more? Hope so, but we will have to see.

I understand Kandi may be comining out with a 400cc version. Hope its less than 7,000!

I'm skeptical but not about the elio. I checked out all the board members, the suppliers and I am very confident my investment is safe. I believe the price will be VERY close the $6,8 promised. But, I also realize, the taxes and the delivery charges, license plates and and and and is not included in that price. The money returned from our deposits will offset that a bit, but please plan on putting out a bit more than the selling price. I am looking forward to driving a my elio almost 4 seasons here in Ohio. Crazy people up here ride their motorcycles all the time. MY cycle will be heated and I will ride dry. GO ELIO!

I hope you are right! I hope they make at least a few of them. I remember the Pulse, a few people got them and they still bring good money today.

Here's how I see it: Elio Car - $6,800 + applicable taxes, 84 mpg, American made & 5 star crash test rating or the 4 musts. Skeptics- Should have, could have, would have! It's like wanting to win the Lotto but you first have to buy the ticket!!!! Successful people are known to have more failures in life before they made it big than those who sit in the couch to "wait and see"! If you want it bad enough then you need to believe on it- that's what Elio Motors are trying to do so let's get behind this project because this means american jobs and less dependence on foreign oil.

You are correct, you can't win if you don't play. I am all in for $1000. I look at it this way I can spend my money on lotto tickets or spend it on the chance of getting an Elio. The odds are much greater that I am going to win with the Elio. Remember that with the odds on the lotto you are pretty much just buying a chance to dream about winning, you are not really going to win. The odds with the Elio are better than you are ever going to see with any lotto. I agree that everyone should be behind this.

I'm only all-in for $100 at the moment as well. It's something I can handle losing if they aren't able to get close enough to their 4 tenets to keep me interested. I've seen multiple people talk about spending their money on lottery tickets as an alternative. Yeah, I don't do that either. There's a pretty big difference about "gambling" your money on the Elio and doing so with the lotto. The one about "you can't win if you don't play" doesn't really fit the Elio. I'd say that if they achieved their goals (a $6800 American made "car" that gets 84MPG and a 5-star crash rating) you'd still be a winner if you had to wait until the 2nd year of production to buy it. Sure, maybe not as much of a winner as getting $500 off, but I'd say it's still a pretty good deal.

The 50% bonus for going all in would be pretty nice at the $1k level. Assuming they keep the reservation system open to the point I'm more comfortable with laying down that kind of cash, I'll probably up mine to the top tier. I'm sure I'll kick myself for not upgrading if I miss the cut-off and the car turns out to be awesome. But, getting an awesome car for $450 more than I could have is more palatable to me than getting nothing for $1k (or $500 off a less than desirable car).

I guess you could put me in the hopeful but cautious category.

That's perfectly alright! I happen to want it bad enough that somehow I managed to save up some money by working "double". I just used the lottery to make a point but then again like you said, not everybody gambles specially your hard earned money! Let hope that we see this affordable means of transportation in our local streets and freeways next year!!!

Hopeful... I like that better. I am officially changing my attitude from skeptical to hopeful!
Now you're talkin'! Won't it be nice if Elio Motors go by "batches" and say ok, 30 brand spanking new Elio car can be picked up on a given day and then they will announce which car/owner numbers will get it so it can then be picked up at the factory (that's me) or at their local dealership!
