Bras on cars... covers on cell phones... plastic covered furniture... all seem like a way to keep something pretty for the next guy but making it ugly for yourself... pass. To get bugs off my 5th wheel, the easiest way I found was to just soak them. I used a sprinkler on them for a bit and then they just wiped right off.

A vehicle bra protects the front by covering it.

USES FOR CLAY
Clay is not a cure-all or a replacement for polishing. It's a tool for quickly and easily removing surface contamination.
One of the many reasons for using a clay bar is the removal of brake dust. Brake dust contamination, which attaches to painted rear bumpers and adjoining surfaces, is a metallic surface contaminant that can be removed safely and effectively by using clay.
Pinnacle offers the most gentle detailing clay available on the market today. Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay removes light to moderate contamination with very little effort. Its very low abrasive content reduce the chances of scuffing even the softest paint finishes. Customers report using this car clay as often as monthly with fantastic results.
Clay is also very effective on paint over-spray. If the over-spray is particularly heavy, you may want to seek the assistance of a professional. Tree sap and tar specks can also be safely removed with a clay bar. A heavier grade clay bar, like Four Star Ultimate Detailing Clay, may be more suitable for heavy overspray.
Recently, I have also started using clay on my windows (exterior) to remove heavy road film, bug deposits and water spots. It works very well, and seems to outperform even the best window cleaners.
HOW DOES DETAILING CLAY WORK?
Clay removes above-surface bonded contamination through the mechanical action of the clay bar rubbing against the vehicle surface. Detailing clay abrades the contamination, wearing it down in some cases, as a result of this mechanical action. However, detailing clay is not abrasive to the paint. The use of an approved clay lubricant prevents marring of the paint. The removed contamination sticks to the clay and is removed from the paint.
I'll have to give this a try, my white car is light gray because I have to put my full weight on the wash rag to get rid of the hard baked gray layer of grime and that's just not worth the effort for me.

I'm certain that many of the forum members have no idea what a "dilla" is or the damage it can cause.

Yep! I suppose your are correct. If they could only picture 3 concrete block with 4 wheel drive(legs), crossing the road, very slowly, they might understand. They have invaded us here in West Ga., and are migrating North. I narrowly missed one after dark one night while riding home. What the 'Hell was that', I thought. Another rider explained what it was, hit one of those, he said, would be like hitting a Concrete Block, or a small wild hog. I never want to be the 'Hitter' of one of those'.

Thanks for the Pic. (have not learned how to post pics on here yet) If you hit one of them little Bastards with less than an 18 Wheeler, it would surly leave a scar, dent, or a call for an ambulance!!!!!

Seeing that an armadillo is really a rat with a crash helmet I would have thought some here would find a certain camaraderie with them. LOL
I know this might be perceived as a little exaggeration but down in Mississippi I ran smack into a rather large number of migrating turtles crossing the interstate. Don't ask me. They must have been going somewhere and there were at least 300 averaging a decent sized frying pan too. Made a mess but no damage to vehicle. Could have taken a motorcycle down though.

'The Armadillo is really a rat with a crash helmet', I've never heard that said before. Here(West Ga.) We call them 'A Possum on a half shell', after they're squished, Why would you think some would have any camaraderie with anything that would conspire to kill us???(lol) As I have not run into a 'Herd of Turtles', while riding, I would have to say that would be Quite an Adventure.

The secret is to guard that clear coat. The clear coat on our late model cars are the secret to the foot deep shines attainable. If you've damaged that forget it. The surface of your clear coat picks up a surprising amount embedded offenders even while sitting on the factory floor. Not to mention traveling on a train. If you can clay a car very close to the time you buy it is the first step to assure future easily maintainable deep deep show car shine. Once clayed I use Zaino and a pure cotton applicator plus a pure cotton towel to wipe with. The only way I know how to assure a pure cotton (the only thing ever allowed to wipe or polish) is to buy Canon brand towels and the applicator rag from Zaino. If it is too late and you've used the wrong material the damage is done. So call Zaino and confess to what you've done and they will recommend a repair procedure. If you want proof of my points here. Reflect the sun directly on your car hood. Notice the spider streaks emanating and bouncing all around the sunspot on your hood. You've already put little micro scratches in our clear coat. Mine doesn't have any because I use cotton only. No exaggerating here but my Element looked deeper and shinier than on the show room floor.

I'm attempting to infer that some here are rats with crash helmets. LOL That might even make a good mascot emblem for some Bike gang with an attitude. LOL You might even catch me with a black motorcycle Jacket with and armadillo on the back. LOL
