One article I read says they are starting production in 4th quarter 2014 with first deliveries in 1st quarter 2015, but a couple of others say starting production in 1st quarter 2015. Anyone know which is closer to the truth?

Not for certain, but I think it depends on when the article was written. i thing 4th quarter 2014 was the original target, but i think delays have pushed it backt o 1st quarter 2015.

Looks to me like yet another production delay.

This is not rocket science, so what the heck is taking them so long? Sure it's on a large scale, but still "No new technologies", remember?

So here is the new plan......
With a years wait to get one...maybe we should build our own. In four months time, I could be completely set up to build the rolling chassis and supply complete fiberglass body kits. I could produce a 20-30 kits a week.

Now, all I need is $200 million dollars up front (ha).

[Actually I bet $100k would do it - What does it really take? Lease a building for manufacturing, kick out a prototype for creating multiple sets of fiberglass body molds, collect used engines/trans and get them rebuilt, set up a wire harness layout/assembly panel, hire a glass manufacturer ($$) to make DOT windshields, Use door glass from an existing vehicle (Scion tC), build the chassis and use it to construct the welding jig, get a plastics company involved to produce the interior panels...so-on and so-on. "Easy Pea-sy, Rice and Cheesy" ]

LOL... send me a dollar and I'll send you a picture of a t-shirt...(grin).

I really have thought about building my own auto-cycle using the door and jamb off an existing car and fabricating the rest of the body around it. For the windshield, I would cut down (using a sandblaster) the glass from a new car. The wiring harness is easy, chassis is easy, drive train is easy, suspension is easy, a/c is easy too. The hardest thing is the interior trim, because I would want that factory textured look, but I think I could figure it out, (maybe use silicone rubber for those molds). It helps that I have all the right tools and skills to build it. I've built entire cars before. I just lack space right now.
