I know most motorcycles use wet clucthes and the engine and transmission do share the same oil. I don't know much, but I do not know of any "regular" automobile that does not use a dry clutch with the ordinary features of flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc and throw-out bearing for a standard manual transmission, which means engine and tranny have separate oil compartments.wasn't there a report saying one reason for the short change interval was the motor and transmission sharing the same oil as is commonly found with motorcycles .... I tried to find that thread but wasn't able to do so

I kinda think I would not want tranny oil circulating through my automotive engine.....
