yes for some reason the 57 stuck in people minds. even the experts have no clue why. but keep in mind the 55,56 were 2 years of the same style the 57,58 only 1 year each. the 57 was so bad back then they had to make a radical change and the 58 was it but like you say that one failed. the 59,60,61 were better then the 62,63 liked the 63 better. 64 bad.
the el caminos all were nice they stay the course for a long time kinda wish they still made them nice looking smaller utility trucks and better riding.
well we got of topic long enough i guess sorry

They sell a adapter (and software) that allows you to use your laptop to check/fix/scan/datalog, etc...and reset the default settings on the vehicle. Little steep at $250, but a descent scanner that can't do any of that is about the same price. I know what I'm getting for Christmas! :D

Here's a less expensive option: www.gopointtech.com/products/

I have no affiliation with the company.
$20 discount thru 12/31/14. Use coupon code "Autoweek"

If you are trying to convince me that was the main thing in your decision I don't believe you. Do you honestly think you would not have bought if it did not have the dash it has? Come on, Josh, that must be some dash! :-) Z
Nope but it was definitely a plus, I look for dashes that are lit up orange or red instead of other colors.

That is very interesting. That I can definitely understand. I think the thing I don't like about the example Kuda has shared is both color - I don't like the blue, and the fact that the mph and tach or whatever it is called, dials overlap. It feels crowded and confusing to me. But then, I am, after all, just a little old lady so what do I know. :p  :) Z

Well said!
I agree, the more people that "throw it away" the more iconic and collectible it will be. This dash is full-on "Retro!"...just like the Elio! This vehicle is actually more "past" than "future."
This thread is becoming very similar to..."If we all yell enough we can get the Elio changed into a 3-passenger car"....
You know, the slingshot has a cool dash, why don't you guys just go and buy one of those? ;) :)
I never thought of that.......the slingshot........oh wait it has an open cabin, higher cost, oh and lower mpg..........but I wonder if Elio could use it's aftermarket dash and save a few bucks. I'll call Paul.

The P4 enclosed cabin Elio three wheeler is not retro in my opinion........it's very aero and futuristic in style. You can option it to look more retro with the open indian fenders, fat whitewalls, and baby moon hubcaps. I'm doing just that, so the retro Elgin Dash works for me. The Elgin is looking better and better as we move closer and closer to 1000 posts.
