Not long ago I taught at a vocational school. And I found that kids still like cars. The problem is, most are pain in the butt to work on or even try to modify.
I think the Elio would be a modifiers delight. I can't wait to put my Harpo Marx horn on mine.

To anticipate any future comment, yes I taught Sarcasm at the school.
Will it have Fredonia license plates?

And I've always said there is no such thing as a safe car/truck.
Sure, you can be injured or die in any car/truck... but some give you a MUCH better chance than others.

That first Mercedes I owned is a good example. I was in an accident where I flipped that car... rolled three and a half times. I walked away from that accident. No airbags, no seatbelt pretensioners (yes, my head hit the steering wheel), etc. None of the windows broke! The roof did not cave in at all. I would have gotten my money back on that car by selling the engine, but it was upside down when it came to a stop and the engine was still running. I couldn't shut it down due to lack of vacuum, and couldn't reach the manual shutoff lever under the hood after I got out.

I'd much rather have been in that car than a pickup truck or just about any small car... especially the way most companies built them back then.

I think the under 25 market will be huge with all the options to personalize if the Elio gets built. Many people of all demographics think the Elio is ugly & silly just like some people feel a BMW is a status symbol and silly.

I have test driven nearly every BMW Model and loved the ride and drive. I would buy one not for status but because it was the ultimate driving machine. I also test drove the WRX and holy crap what a hoot, not status, but an appreciation for the vehicle. Low % of people buy a car for status only and those that do probably can't afford them.
You can take the BMW and the WRX. Ill take the jacked up truck!
(but I get to borrow the WRX...)

I T-boned a Volvo in my 69 beetle (over $5K in damage, hence the new flame job) and didn't have a scratch, it all depends on circumstance
(and luck)
The best safety feature in any vehicle is the nut behind the wheel.

So you are going to market a car to a young person off to college. The car is not produced yet, no idea when it will be , we don't know the price and the engine failed to show up for a start date. That should sell a lot of them.

Yep! :D

...and no, it's to let more people know about it. Thousands and thousands of students, and their parents, attend college football/basketball events, including students/parents from the opposing team. The entire post was to think of ways to increase exposure of the Elio, thus increasing possible buy-ins to the concept. Kids like "green", parents like to save it (particularly if their paying tuition).

I have done a lot to expose people to the ELIO. Still will just won't sugar coat their money problems
