I searched for someone else asking this question and no hits. SO: I'm starting my very first thread.

Does anyone know if the factory is up to a state where they might be giving factory tours? I'll be riding my bike in the area, and just wanted to see what my $1000 has bought so far.

Unfortunately you wouldn't see anything except what was left behind by GM. I don't think they've started doing anything to the plant yet, other than selling unneeded equipment. They don't have the money to do anything yet, and no need to start doing anything until they have the money.

I expect it will be late Fall or Winter before they start doing anything toward getting the plant ready. And only if investors and/or ATVM comes through.

I was at the plant a few months
Back & went to the 'visitor center'.
No tours but they knew about Elio.
Fella did mention that Gino was
In the plant programming some
Of the computers......

I wouldn't expect tours to be available until well after production begins, simply for safety reasons. It's not a good idea to let "civilians" anywhere near a production operation because there are too many opportunities for injuries, particularly because insurance on rubberneckers probably won't be a high priority investment for a while yet. Let the operation shake out, safe visitor galleries and catwalks built, and I'm sure tours will be a big attraction for owners taking delivery at the Shreveport plant.

GM used to allow walking tours. They had set days where the public could show up. They kept the people back far enough from the operations that had swinging parts and such but they were pretty close to most of the operations as they aren't that dangerous... "watch Bob connect and screw in this headlight. Great. Now, let's move to the next station..."
