I don't know that that means they won't be produced before that time. It's possible they could build the 100 pre-production units and use them for internal or promotional purposes before selling them off.

How can they built the 100 pre-production units without the tooling that will take several months to aquire?
Asking as a complete noob: this tooling of which you speak... Are these items that have to be cast, forged, molded, beaten, or lathed to be created (i.e., from scratch)? Since the Elio is supposed to use over 90% American-made parts, can they be purchased from a major auto supply company? Are they items that will wear down and need regular replacement, or is it more of a one-off deal and hope you never loose one in your pocket while you're fishing?

Where's Ty when you need him; since he knows the inner workings of that place, he would be best to answer that question.

I will let Ty answer since I only worked in an auto factory that made transmissions only. I'm going with what Elio put in their SEC filing. These are primarily custom fixtures that will be for just the Elio. The 10minute factory tour video even refers to some of it. Watching that video makes it clear there is a long way to go.

( I hope you can see the sarcasm dripping off the page)
Oh, great. JUST Great! Sarcasm dripping off the web page and off the bottom of my monitor. I FINALLY got my desk cleared off and now th...

OH, BRILLIANT! Now the CAT is tracking the sarcasm all over my workspace! Aaaaa...nd now she's plopped her butt in the middle the puddle and starting to clean her paws. YOU! Yes, I'm talking to you, cat. Don't give me that look.

Coss, please, next time, can you just keep your sarcasm just a little bit more to yourself?

(BTW, if you're wondering what in first gear I'm talking about, Coss deleted his original post containing the dripping sarcasm. I'm still waiting for him to come to my place and clean up the spots his sarcasm left on my desk, the places where the cat tracked it on the hard surfaces, and the spots on the carpet where my cat puked.)

(Truthfully, the cat puke may or may not be related to the sarcasm. I just figured if he's coming here anyway...)
