Hello all.

I joined up to read up and ask some questions on the Elio. I saw this creation on a focus forum and thought it was pretty neat. I currently drive a '14 ford focus.
Hi and welcome from Oregon, NaNoMaNo6. There is a huge amount of information here about the Elio and other related subjects. The Elio Motors website is also a gold mine of information. Don't let the label Elio Store scare you away. It is simply information about how Paul Elio is planning to sell this vehicle so we all know what to expect. This is a very diverse and knowledgeable group so I hope you will enjoy this exciting adventure and journey towards Elio production and ownership. Next year in my Elio. :-) Z

Anyone know if I would need a motorcycle license to drive an Elio in New York?
If you were to get one today, then I believe you would need a motorcycle endorsement or the NY equivalent. However, Elio Motors has a Vice President of Governmental Affairs/group that spend all their time communicating with legislatures and other governing bodies to get these requirements changed before the Elio is produced. Watch here for any requests for help. We have already had one request asking us to send emails, letters and phone calls to one of the legislative bodies to encourage them to make sure a bill was actually allowed to be voted on. I believe it was Missouri which is one of the 5 states that still requires a helmet and an endorsement but I haven't heard the results. I believe local constituents are more likely to get that information before we do. I hope this helps. There is a post on this forum of the AAMVA Best Practices document. Simply search for it and it should come up. The AAMVA is the organization that advises legislative bodies on the best practices for all regulations concerning vehicles. Thanks for asking and enjoy your research. There is a lot to learn but at least you have time to enjoy it. :-) Z
