After reading the past 2 days of comments here, I would like to point out that this thread is titled
"Anyone Else Think It Wont Happen?"
Bashing people for expressing their concerns in this thread and telling them to either just have faith or leave seems a little silly.
I thought the same for a second until I started looking at the numbers.
A 19' turning circle would be a 9.5' radius. The Elio is over 13 feet long, so not only would the wheels have to go sideways - the car would also have to move backwards while turning.
Or something.
I wonder if the outrigger wheels can't actually turn as tightly because they'd interfere with the main body. To make it turn tighter you'd have to narrow the body or widen the wheelbase - neither of which sounds appealing given current dimensions.
Anecdotally, the turning radius of a Plymouth...
On the other hand, look at something like the Honda Grom, street legal and at $3199 brand new.
Yes, it's smaller than the one you linked - but they're still making profit at the 3k price point.
I'm not convinced they'll actually be making money with the ~7k base Elio, I'm betting nearly all...
A 19' radius gives it a 38' turning circle which is larger than quite a lot of cars out there. I would have thought with the wheels outside the body like that they'd be able to get some really tight angles - guess not
It's not just confidence, milestones are news and news gets reported by people other than Elio.
The 'morning news' isn't going to cover the story "Elio discusses trunk" or "Elio praises road crew", but they might talk about "Elio secures funding" or "shows a new prototype".
It's the same way...
You didn't bold this portion, but it seemed particularly interesting and all-encompassing. Looks like planning for CAFE credits better not be a significant part of their business plan.
Not according to the SAE recommendations, but those are relying on having a rear view mirror.
If you aim the mirrors so that you can see a person directly behind the vehicle, your blind spots will be huge.
For me:
Cruise control is a must - I drive too much up and down a boring highway (>24k/yr) not to have the option
Automatic depends how refined their design ends up being, I do sit in traffic frequently.
A moonroof could be fun, I use mine all the time when the weather is nice - though I don't...
The ATVM Loan states that to qualify a project must be viable without additional federal funds. Initially I assumed that meant without the loan itself, but I'm starting to think they may mean other loans or federal funding. E.G. We don't want to fund if you will also require an answer from...

You've seen the car. You know its gas mileage. But exactly how will Elio Motors build it's three-wheeled vehicle here in...
Not the video we're waiting on, but I found this on their site:

It's a phone interview from August where Paul Elio states that a delay on the Loan would delay production.
So much for my hope that it wasn't actually required to hit their target date (and the funds would be from elsewhere).
I also had a couple instances where I was unable to stop in time to avoid something, but the worst I've got is a semi-messed up right thumb.
With my long commute, bikes are usually impractical - so I sold mine when I got the kit car that I also never drive for similar reasons.
That little...
