Thats a lot of damage for a deer to do. Might have been better off with the civic. My dad hit a deer in a miata. You would think THAT car was a bad one to hit a deer in, but it's so small that it clipped the deer at the legs, bounced it off the hood, and threw it abour 16 feet in the air and...
Air cooled engines are automatically OUT. It takes precise temperature control to deliver high mpg, and you just can't do it with air cooling. I like the two cyllinder idea though. I think there is a lot of potential there.
I have a feeling this might end up being a bit different a/c system than we've been used to. Like high efficiency 'fridges and a/c units in the home, this one may use a much lower power compressor that runs for a much longer cycle time, so not so noticable a power leech to the engine. Dunno...
wonder if you'd have been killed in a civic? I'm pretty sure civic drivers are no more at risk of death than anyone else. Drivers of cars os ALL makes and models survive their close encounters with the long-legged brown forest rats unscathed the vast majority of the time. Those that don't...
With so much concern over what will or won't fit in the trunk I'm surprised no one has mentioned the hitch-mount luggage rack again. Still think you could have a lot more cargo room by taking the back seat out entirely.
I like the video, but one clip of it making a curve without crashing doesn't mean much no matter how many times they play it over and over. Sure I hope it's good in snow, but if it's not, oh well. I don't want it for a snowmobile.
If anyone is driving like a fool it's people with anti-lock brakes, traction control, and allthe other fun toys that make them over-confident. You can always blame drivers, and for the most part you're right, BUT... Some vehicles STINK on icy roads, and some are above average. Bad tires will...
Anyone thinking the traction of the rear tire is less important than the front has not tried snow and ice with bad rear traction on a front wheel drive. Without good lateral traction on the back you'll find yourself spinning around on even light curves. With only one tire to grip on the back...
Not really any option to the traditional pneumatic tire that will give good mpg and performance, else we'd probably already be driving on them. Can't see that the center strip of the road will be that much worse for puncture debris, never had trouble with my bike. The rear tire shouldn't be...
I suppose the point is that they make what we already buy. We already buy cars, we already buy motorcycles. The Can-Am was a bit of a jump but a big success. Why didn't Honda do it? Why not BMW? Why does it take a new company to build something new?
All I've seen are the pics from google, and I can't tell much from them. If you have some decent pics you can probably see better. An overhead cam should give it the ability to build power into the higher rpm band, all else being equal. That might give it a little more potential. Still not...
I think you're probably right. I must have been remembering an older post I read somewhere. There was a mention of using a timing chain instead of a belt on the new design. Belts would only be used on overhead cams. Then again they do say they're using a chain instead, which COULD be a...
Seems I'm at least not the only one with miles to commute every day. I've got a 110 mile round trip and, like you, don't face all that much traffic so just have to plod along for the miles, staying under the radar gun and trying not hit any deer. I don't need power windows, locks, steering...
Huh? 'Should cost....', Based on what? The over-inflated prices the current suppliers charge? I don't understand how to calculate the 'should' cost of a vehicle.
If I can build a rack to carry sailboards on top of my convertible, I'm sure there MUST be a way to carry a bicycle on an Elio without dropping $500 at the trailer shop. But without having one to examine it's hard to tell exactly how it could work.
