I Have Given Up On Elio, Have You?

Hey all :) long time no see. Just checking in (mostly to change my password due to data breach warning). Still wishing for that Elio <3 but I know it's not going to happen. I'm loving the new Aptera reboot, even if it's about $10-15k too expensive xP wish you all the best! <3 take care.

High Quality P5 Photos Inside And Out.

Love the pictures! Makes me want my Elio all the more :( haha Thanks!

    That New Car Smell

I can hardly wait to find out. And I sure hope it does! :D

    Self Driving Car?

I think it'll remain prohibitively expensive for the near future, on a car like the Elio anyway. But I suspect in a couple decades this kind of technology would be fairly common and I've no problem with it at all. It'd be nice sometimes to relax a bit and not worry about driving during those...

    The Tucker...an Elio Design Precedent?

Yeah you're correct. I wasn't accounting for how light the Elio is, I suppose. So while the forces would be more concentrated, the mass of the Elio is around half as much as a normal car anyway, canceling each other out.

Honda "civic", Nissan "altima", Elio "...?"

    I vote for this! :D

Honda "civic", Nissan "altima", Elio "...?"

So, "I have two Prius"? That doesn't sound right at all. Not saying you're wrong whatsoever, just doesn't sound right to me. Haha oh I shouldn't comment. ;P

Is Elio Being Ignored By Mainstream Auto Industry Press?

Small margin? I don't think a 15-20% margin is too bad, actually. In fact, compared to most cars it's very good from what I've read. Now, maybe with the traditional "dealership" model that other manufacturers use, that margin is cut into. But for Elio, that would be a comfortable margin I...

120 Mpg Elio? Parts Availabe Online...

I wonder if it would be at all feasible, with some slight modifications to the design, to create a modular and removable electric-drive system? It'd be interesting to explore the option of a factory-installable electric-drive system (battery, motor, controls) but one that could be installed...

    The Tucker...an Elio Design Precedent?

That brings up a point that perhaps should go into another topic, but I've been curious about it: With the relatively small surface area of the Elio's front and rear, wouldn't that mean in a collision the forces of impact are likely to be more concentrated? This would make that 5-star safety...

120 Mpg Elio? Parts Availabe Online...

Yes I think that'd be an excellent application! I forget what the average daily commute is, something around 20 or 40 miles if I remember correctly. So a battery just big enough to cover that and the small hub motor would be perfect. I think if they could put a very small battery pack along...

    3d Model

Which is a shame since that allows you to look into the direction of your turn better. I believe some cars in Europe currently use this sort of technology.

120 Mpg Elio? Parts Availabe Online...

I believe that the Elio may very well get better mpg if a turbo is being used, but I highly doubt you'd see anywhere near a 50% increase in fuel efficiency. The engine is already being tuned for low RPM torque, and is going to use a relatively high compression ratio of 10:1 or 11:1 using...

120 Mpg Elio? Parts Availabe Online...

Its been mentioned from several sources, including VP Jerome, that the engine is being designed for 1,500-2,000 RPM at highway speeds (65 mph?). As such, I don't think you'll find that added 50%! increase in fuel efficiency by simply bolting on a turbo, or any other thing for that matter. If...

    The Elio Standard Transmission

Completely agree, as usual :D I trust the AMT will be just fine Would take some getting used to at least, but sounds like a good idea to me if done properly.

    250,000 Units Per Year ?

Yeah I haven't seen much hating on the P4s appearance. Personally, while I wouldn't say it's gorgeous or perfect, I think it looks great. Quirky, sleek, and fun. I can definitely think of many other cars I find ugly but sell very well. Edit to add: I like the evolution from P2-P4 and...

Elio Gauge Cluster - Lord Elgin? - Other Options?

To be fair to the Elgin, on a traditional needle style cluster, you're not "using" most of that space anyway. Instead, most of the numbers along the tach and speedo are sitting there doing nothing. Though yes, the angle of the needle can be used to estimate your speed in a traditional cluster...

Honda "civic", Nissan "altima", Elio "...?"

While it may be an "and" vehicle, I too am a bit leery of it being actually named an "&". It just doesn't work as a name, in my opinion. Example; "I have my Mustang & my &" Sounds silly. Guess I'll just revert to calling it the Elio as before. A bit disappointing. Ah well, what do I know.

Your Chance To Vote To Make Yellow The 8th Color Over On The Elio Blog.

They look like grapes. Mmm grape juice. I'd say my least favorite color is yellow, sadly. I'd much prefer a neon pink over almost any shade of yellow, any day. :O I'm not quite sure what "earthen color" is, but I think that would have been my vote. I know: Boring. XD

    250,000 Units Per Year ?

Same here. As far as I know, 250K/year is definitely not a requirement, just the estimated capacity.
