its hard to believe that its once again time for a thread highlighting our folks Christmas travel plans .... where/how do you plan to spend the holidays

for us, we will take our camper from home in central NC to Asheville on the 22nd .... we will leave it there on the 23re and drive over to Kentucky to spend Christmas with my family .... we plan to be back to Asheville on the 26th and leave to spend the winter in Texas on the 28th ....

I took off from the 23rd to the 30th. We are driving from York PA to see my parents at a house they rented for the holidays Hedgesville WV. We spend Christmas eve morning with them before heading off towards Peoria Illinois to see my sister in law where we are staying until we come back.

I like Peoria and the surrounding area.

My family is all local. It'll be about 5 miles for me over to sis/bil's place. Weather permitting, it's less than that via snowmobile trail. (Literally over the river and thru the woods!)

I am the only boy (I have 3 sisters). One sister lives in South Africa and the other two are an hour or so away. I prefer it this way :).

I'll be right where I am now; sitting at home with my foot still in a cast.
My Daughter, her boyfriend and my Granddaughter will be over for a few hours; my son is in Seattle and I might get a call.
My folks <they divorced in 1964> live 2,600 miles away in Indiana; Dad died November 2011; mom is still around, she's 84 and "everyday is a new day" so I'll give her a call and see if she can hold a conversation. My half sister hasn't talked to me since 1992; my half brother is an idiot and I have told him to never contact me again.
Geeee..... doesn't it sound like I have all the Fun in this dysFUNctional family?
But I can say I'm very happy and secure with what I do have; a great wife that I've been married to 15 years (#4) my daughter and granddaughter and my 4 furry short people disguised as cats.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

My family situation is VERY similar. 2nd oldest of 5, turning 39 next week, and I'm the only one that lives on my own or doesn't take money from Mom and (Step)Dad. All live close but I don't really talk to any of them. Wife's family is all nearby and they are really close but I am not used to it so it is hard for me to feel like I belong sometimes, even though we are going on 14 years of marriage. At least I have my kids (13 and 11) and they are my life. They are all I need. When they leave the nest, if they fly far, I may need to migrate with them ;). Also have many old friends I consider family. Remember, family is who you make them.

Have a wonderful holiday season, no matter what flavor you are :D

The shepherd's hut ... merry christmas and happy holidays 2015. May there be peace in regions where there still many shepherds.
