2016 Milestone Countdown: Number 3
Milestone 3- Supplier partners
In 1961 President John F. Kennedy audaciously proclaimed that by the end of the decade, Americans would set foot on the moon. His prediction turned into reality, as Neil Armstrong famously left his lunar imprint on July 20th, 1969. While Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are the most recognizable names and faces from the Apollo 11 mission, it took a cohesive team, working tirelessly around the clock to lead to this astonishing accomplishment. It often takes a team, spanning different areas of expertise, to make something momentous happen. No one understands this more than Elio Motors, which is why we’ve assembled a roster of blue-chip suppliers to help us alter the course of transportation. Today, we will unveil the 3rd biggest milestone of 2016 for Elio Motors, the introduction of critical supplier partners.

Roush
In March of this year, we announced that a global leader in the automotive industry, Roush, was added as the lead engineering partner for Elio Motors. Roush’s credentials speak for themselves: from working with nearly every major automaker in the world to having won 31 championships in different areas of racing. Roush has streamlined our development process by lending engineering, testing, prototyping, and assembly support. In fact, its headquarters are not far from our Pilot Operations Center in Livonia, Michigan. Roush has proved to be an indispensable asset to Elio Motors.
Linamar
Only a few months later, we were pleased to announce that we had signed a Letter of Intent with Linamar Corp, a leader in powertrain development and production. Linamar will partner with Elio Motors to manufacture the 0.9 liter, 3-cylinder Elio Motors engine. The engine, which was developed with our partner IAV Engineering, has the potential for applications beyond our first vehicle. As Linamar Corp has an existing global reach in the automotive, marine, and industrial markets, we will utilize its expertise to identify other uses for our unique engine.
Hyundai DYMOS
Sitting in traffic is frustrating, and sitting uncomfortably in traffic is even worse. In 2016 we announced our partnership with seat manufacturing partner, Hyundai DYMOS. Elio Motors and Hyundai DYMOS make for a dynamic duo, as both are committed to creating American jobs. Hyundai DYMOS will provide production capability onsite at our Shreveport plant, creating more American jobs. Beyond creating jobs, having Hyundai DYMOS in our facility will result in saved time and cost for our customers.
Bosch
There are four “musts” that drive the Elio Motors project: fuel efficiency, affordability, made in America, and safety. We intend to build the safest possible vehicle, which is one of the reasons we have partnered with a leader in the automotive safety field, Bosch. Bosch will supply several components that are crucial to the Elio Motors Safety Management System, including the airbag control module, as well as front and peripheral airbag sensors. Bosch’s expertise includes general automotive engineering, which is why it will also supply several sensors for the Elio powertrain. As a supplier, Bosch will improve the safety and driving experience for Elio Motors’ customers.
Each and every one of our supplier partners are integral to the development of our vehicle and we are more than thrilled to have them on our team. They bring expertise, efficiency, and credibility to our project. We want to take this opportunity to offer our thanks to them and everything they do.
Don’t forget to check back in on Monday for the 2nd biggest milestone of 2016!
