In this day of computers, I have a pet peeve of people using unnecessary acronyms like Bk. Look at all the typing generated because the OP was too lazy to type a few letters. The other is those who cannot spell (even on this forum). They know who they are and are also too lazy to look up correct spelling. Sheesh!

With US fuel mpg standards required to hit 54.5 by 2025, wouldn't it be easier for one of the big 3 auto manufacturers to simply buy the Elio company and add the Elio to their fleet than to completely come up with their own cars that can meet the numbers?

I'm hoping they don't, because I know that would throw a monkey wrench into the Elio being completed on schedule, but the upside would be that once we got them, we'd have a better network for dealers and repairs.....

I wonder if Elio were targeted for buyout, would they cave in and sell out, or hold firm and keep the company?

Polaris has way to much at risk now. With Indian ,Victory and the slingshot. ELIO is not on their list I am betting.

Motorcycles don't count toward CAFE compliance.

The absolute last thing I want to happen to Elio Motors if for traditional dealers (aka "stealers") to get their dirty paws on it. Much worse network imho.

BMW has had a motorcycle division for a very long time. The Volkswagen Audi Gruppe has Ducati now. Sales and service are separate from the automotive part of the companies.
