Actually, it's COPD, and it's what eventually killed my dad March of this year. Yep, he was a smoker, and yep, he had a portable oxygen tank. I'm also a smoker of 40 years (started at 12). I'm not worried about a 12VDC outlet in the back, because my oxygen generator is going to be mounted on the dash and hardwired into the Elio's loom.

Aw NSTG8R! I know about addictions, trust me, I do, but man, with what you just said, don't you at least want to stop?
I know. I don't know anything about you, but to me it's just to bad...

Or a non-smoker who is trying to make light of an uncomfortable reality, and who can't understand why anyone in today would proudly smoke, based on what id does to ones body, not

I did hit E instead of D my mistake. I am sorry you lost your father, I hope your children don't have to say the same thing.

To properly identify myself I am an ex-smoker (quit 1/1/77). I do appreciate your willingness to pay an inordinate amount of taxes. Do what you want to do!

Somewhere on the dash will the Elio have a cigarette lighter receptacle.
Am a non-smoker so why do I ask ?
Have a small portable air compressor for possible low tire pressure or a flat.
Compressor needs to be plugged into vehicle cigarette lighter.
Radar detector, so I know if I was actually caught on radar or just pulled over by a curious cop.

Provided you are in a state that allows a radar detector. Just a question, do states that not allow a radar detector allow you to pass through if you are from another state that does? I have travelled to Maine many times but never took one with me. I would like to know if I could.

Cigarette lighter sockets are inexpensive and fairly easy to install - could even mount one in the engine compartment.
Hmmm, interesting suggestion. However, I don't smoke and I certainly don't want my engine to smoke, or anyone around me smoking. Somehow, I don't think this would be an option of my choosing. :p :D  :) Z

They're not legal in Colorado, but you can usually take it off your dash and unplug it without drawing a ticket. That is, unless you were doing Mach 1 or better when you got pulled over.
It is a secondary offense, which means you won't get pulled over just for having it.
Mmmm, cigarette lighter? Oh, just maybe you mean the radar detector. Sorry, I couldn't resist that. :p :D  :) Z

Add-on cigarette lighter sockets are pretty inexpensive and fairly simple to install - even places like in the engine compartment (or possibly the trunk)...
but then I'm a mechanic and a wireman, so such a project is not any big deal to me.

You or some helper can DO this.

Cigarette lighter can be the difference between living and dying in a cold climate. If you have your emergency winter road kit ( should include: water, large candle for heat, matches or lighter, blanket or sleeping bag, non perishable food, flares, shovel, extra hats, socks, gloves and something to read while waiting to be rescued ) and find your matches are bad or lighter won't work, you can still light your candle with a car cigarette lighter.
