Let us not forget that regardless of WHO pays the taxes for roads, the govt. is already getting PLENTY of money to get the job done. How often do we watch them tear up and 'fix' perfectly good roads while other roads are all but impassable and are untouched? I know it's all about federal vs state vs local and grant money, matching funds, primary/secondary/terciary roads, etc... etc... The point is that the system is BROKEN. There is NO excuse for not fixing it. THEN we can look at how much it really should cost to have road to drive on. We fork over truckloads of money for roads in all the various tax forms, and then stand there like CHUMPS as it gets spent on everything BUT roads. THEN they have the audacity to come back for more money 'cause NOW it's time to fix the roads. And how much of all that cash pays bribes, kickbacks, contract padding, outright embezelment and even organized crime?
We got bigger issues than just who's taxed how. Or is that political?
