I realize this is an old post, but I just caught this.

Gatlinburg is a nice place, and one I'd be happy to visit, but it's over a thousand miles East of the geographic center of the lower 48, which Wikipedia tells me is near Lebanon KS.

I dunno what beautiful downtown Lebanon has to offer, but if we're talking middle America, let's at least get within a state or two of it
