They have listed 3 listed for Ohio. As of recent law (June 2014) no one other than Tesla is allowed to have factory-owned sales outlets in Ohio. So Ohio's actual number of distribution centers will be zero. And state law specifically includes every sort of vehicle except snow mobiles and tractors incapable of more than 25 miles per hour, so being a motor cycle doesn't help at all. Autocycle legislation MIGHT enable a loop hole, but don't hold your breath.

For me, it's not a big deal -- I can go to Kentucky and pick up the car, or (better) go to Shreveport. But Ohio is currently OUT,

Have you ever taken a look at the proposed store locations on the EM web site? I just did and was astounded at what I saw. In the Texas section they posted "Houston-Sugarland-Baytown". Baytown! Really! They have to be kidding. If you're not from this area let me clue you in. Baytown is located on the far east side of Houston. You know, the side of town that everyone who doesn't live there avoids every chance they get. Most of the natives of Baytown wouldn't drive any thing where they can't mount a gun rack across the rear window. It's nothing but refineries, chemical plants, toxic waste dumps and two bit redneck peckerwoods. I would put an Elio store in downtown Kabul before one in Baytown.

Come on Elio people, do your homework, don't just look at a map. In the Houston area I suggest Katy and Sugarland, both being among the fastest growing and most prosperous cities in the country. If you want a third store in the area the smart choice would the "The Woodlands", prosperous, middle to upper income families, tremendous growth and huge numbers of residents driving long distances into Houston to work. Plus it's on the opposite side of the city from Katy and Sugarland. These three locations would cover the north, west and southwest. The center will take care of itself. And, for god sake, forget the east side....

I've lived in this town my whole life and think I know what I'm talking about. You're welcome.

What choices have they made for your area?
If you live in Baytown we should get together and do a slow roll with our Elios! I lived in Highlands from 1960 to 68 and went to high school and junior college in Baytown and your are correct in your statement. If the store goes in Baytown, I could care less. It is 20 minutes to get my car. BTW I am 11,492 what's your number?

I thought most of Texas was like that.

Didn't the Texas automotive dealers rally to get recent legislation passed in Texas prohibiting direct to consumer auto sales?
It was targeting Tesla Motor's Showrooms, but also may impact future Elio Stores as well since EM is adopting Tesla's direct to consumer sales model.

Surely with the thousands of your state's population relocating to Texas, you should know better than that. We have miles of Gulf waterfront, forests with communities in them, hundred of lakes of all sizes and rivers that tourists from all over flock to. I live within minutes of NASA control center and it receives almost one million visitors annually and Clear Lake has one of the largest boating communities in the world. Yep, there are areas like those close to Baytown and Channelview that were not protected from chemical spills, etc but many others like San Antonio that are beautiful. By the way it was recently announced that owner of NFL Oakland Raiders is considering moving team to land he owns between Austin and San Antonio.
