Since Elio is trying to create buzz with T-Shirts and hats why not license the design and name to toy cars. I could see a 1/64 Hotwheels selling decently. I personally would want a 1/18 model.

What do you think, it could at least be a little influx of cash to keep them running longer.

They tried that sort of thing with $25 tee shirts in the early days which I think just insulted people. Without the vehicle available gimcracks just remind everyone of how long it’s been. IMHO. Plus, one could argue that little infusions of cash just won’t get them anywhere. They really need maybe at least $ 350million to get moving.

Maybe Elio should sell a Flamethrower to make some money in the meantime... ahem, Elon, ahem...

Ford knows something that others don’t. If 10 years ago you asked anyone if they would buy a twin turbo aluminum pickup, they would have laughed you out of the bar. Honestly, most people don’t care where a car is made plus most could care less about sedans. There is a niche that does and Elio can capitalize on that market of probably 20k per year.

There's an awful lot of Camrys, Altimas, and Accords sold every year for people to not care about sedans.

People still buy them but the bulk are fleet sales. The numbers keep going down. If you want to see a good example, just look at VW. They are having record sales numbers even though they polluted up the US with those cheater diesels and the company was to go out of business. Want to know how they did it? Introduce a new Atlas (made in America) and a new Tiguan (made in North America which is Mexico but I wanted to use America to make it seem good). Their car sales tanked after those two came out. It's a perfect example of a company that cheats on emissions yet recovers with gas guzzling SUV's. We might not all like it buy that's the reality.

Top it off, they are going to race this thing at Pikes Peak (in the US). It's electric.

Ford knows less than you think. Ford can't compete with foreign cars and there is a tax on imported truck. They are depending on Trump to squeeze out the competition in that area and escaping the other markets where they fail. Look up the term "chicken tax" and you'll understand their motives a little more.

I see the clothing as more of a bad idea for the reason you give. People who wear car clothing often want the car, except for Ferrari which boggles my mind to this day. The toy car however is something people can collect even if they don't own or even want to. People have tons of hot wheels and matchbox cars. It could also be seen as a way to get the design into more peoples hands.
