Or we can just give our individual cars the name we would like to see! You know, something sophisticated like, Rapier or Baguio (typhoon in Tagalog) or maybe Burt cuz you like Burt and Ernie but Ernie just didn't sound like a good car model name. Then when you do the pin striping just have your chosen name tastefully added!

In all seriousness it there would be little to be gained and much to be lost by changing the Elio's nameplate from a business perspective alone. Elio Motors has very effectively employed grass roots marketing of The Elio, spurning more traditional information channels for tourstops, the internet, and word of mouth. Why confuse people by renaming the vehicle? Did Apple mess around with the "i" in every one of their devices? iPod, iPhone, iMac, iTV, etc.? No. No one markets better than Apple and they knew/know exactly what they are doing. Do we still call it 'the internet'? We do. The Model T? Yup. The Mini Cooper? Yup.

When Elio starts making different models, perhaps nameplates will be necessary but for now nothing is more certain with the Elio than that it stays 'The Elio'. If for no other reason Paul will want to be associated with this for all eternity. Pride.
