It looked to me by the other Elio frames in the background of some of the pictures, that they've already started on the E1b. Makes sense that there would be several being built at the same time, and the start of the next one would be before the end of the current one.

But yeah, who knows how long it will take. The type of test determines how long it will take to make it. Does it need a fully functional power train? Does it need the creature comforts in the interior? Does it need some or all of the safety features installed, etc. :usa2:

I don't know about E1B but I am willing to bet that E1a is going to be used for mileage tests ASAP. And if it doesn't score high enough they will sit on the results and do some tweaks before sending them to DOE. Which might delay b and c by a bit.
I agree w/ you on this one Ekh. Who ever is the recipient supplier that should be EM's first priority, after all that's ONE of their biggest selling point right next to the base price.

I seem to remember that the first one was supposed to be used to do the ABS, traction control and that stuff.
It's good to know you can stop once you go.
Remember, it was turning off the traction control that flipped the Slingshot.

More than that, 75 mpg is the absolute requirement for the ATVM loan guarantee from the feds. They'll beat that, for sure, and are at 81 in the P5. But they'd like to squeak out another mpg or two. Paul Elio doesn't like backing off his goals.

I can't wait to get the weigh in on the E1A. The P5 was 400 pounds overweight and got 81 at least once. I assume the mileage was real life and not a dynomometer which eliminates wind drag.

Do you think going to stampings for the frame will save significant weight?
