I believe it was the body panels that were adding the extra weight on the P5. It has fiberglass panels, while the E-series have the real deal, which are significantly lighter.

I seem to remember that the first one was supposed to be used to do the ABS, traction control and that stuff.
It's good to know you can stop once you go.
Remember, it was turning off the traction control that flipped the Slingshot.

I'm with you on this speculation. My reason is the observations on the thin brake pads. But could also do mpg testing, too perhaps.

I was just wondering if it is possible those "brake pads" were merely shipping materials and the actual brake pads had not been installed yet.

Really doubtful; that's a lot of extra labor to do.
If it was one or two, maybe, 10 or 20K and you have weeks worth of labor, waste of time and material.
