How Many Miles...

That is of this morning in my 2005 Sunfire with the Ecotec 2.2L 4 cylinder motor.

250,000 miles in a car sworn to be junk by Consumer Reports.

I had a 1985 S-10 I bought brand new, had the 2.8l engine with an automatic. 17 years later and 186,000 miles later, it was still moving along, but I needed a bigger vehicle. Only thing I had to do was replace the gasket for the intake manifold, which is a common GM issue.

I don't suppose anybody has any knowledge of the miles P4 has accumulated yet?

That's a great question. I suppose the P4 went on at least a dozen test drives from various companies... they drove it around the plant for some video... they drove it in some snow for some video... I'm sure they drove it a dozen times when no video was being taken...

If it was driven 40 times for 15 miles, that'd be 600 miles. My guess would be that the P4 has been driven under 1000 miles. I don't remember seeing an odometer on it.

they installed a used engine in the P4 .... I've seen several reports in which it has been described as being "tired" .... it would be interesting to know just how many miles it has on it

If I remember correctly, the P4 does have an odometer, and it was at over 100k miles. But my memory often betrays me. I'm pretty sure it is the OD from the donor car.

Thanks I got it used in 2010 with 49K miles on it. Anything beyond that is on me. My wife hates the car, calls it a piece of s*** but doesn't seem to mind me running around in it. I think it's her not being able to see over the wheel

Actually, a good answer to this question would be..."Who cares!" I say that because, as previously mentioned, the P3 and P4 [prototypes were built with an engine and transmission that will have nothing to do with the final production model. The results from the P or E5 thru to p or E30 will be more valid and valuable as they will more closely resemble the final production model.

'I would hope' they'd be in various stages of completion. That's a very good question for the upcoming show.
