BERNIE INGERSOLL WAS MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR THE LAST FEW YEARS OF HIS LIFE .

WHILE NOT A WELL KNOWN NAME IN NASCAR, HE WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINATORS OF
THE SPORT AND RACED BACK IN THE DAY WITH FIREBALL ROBERTS & LEE PETTY .

HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR THE OPENING OF THE NASCAR HALL OF FAME
BUT SUFFERED A STROKE AND PASSED AWAY A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT .

HE HAD AN AMAZING COLLECTION OF EARLY NASCAR FOOTAGE FROM OLD NEWS REELS
HE WAS ALWAYS EASY TO SPOT BECAUSE HE RACED CAR #100 .

HIS LAST RACE WAS ALSO THE LAST RACE AT DAYTONA ON THE SAND .
RETIRED FROM DRIVING AND WAS CO-OWNER OF THE UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY
IN NEW YORK FOR THE NEXT 25 YEARS .

I HAVE TO SAY HE WAS THE MOST INTERESTING NEIGHBOR I HAVE EVER HAD .
I BORROWED THE FILMS FROM HIS WIDOW & TRANSFERED THEM TO DVD AFTER HIS DEATH .

JGR Toyotas dominated the race with 4 cars in the top five. I like the new format and apparently so did the drivers. Made the race much more exciting. Like him or not, you have to give credit to Kyle Busch - he pushed hard the entire race and never gave up. I think he will make the "chase".

Didn't watch as I'm frustrated with an organization (NASCAR) that can't get it's act together and has gone political .
Now I did catch up with the Jr.,Danica incident and Jr.was clearly being an idiot .Jr.had been driving lap after lap with little or no breaks ,what did he expect for an outcome ?

I don't know about political, but Brian and his group of morons have turned it into a bigger version of IROC. They have hurt the sport and cut ties with the true core of racing and what NASCAR was built on.
