Milestone #1- E-Series
December 30, 2016

2016 was a momentous year for Elio Motors. Over the past several weeks we have highlighted some of the most important milestones of the past calendar year. We thrived being placed in the spotlight, introduced our plan for improving the way car buyers customize their vehicles, added world-class suppliers to our team, and made tremendous strides in funding our future. Today, we will take a look at the number 1 Elio Motors milestone of 2016: establishing our Pilot Operations Center and building our E-Series vehicles.

At the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show we unveiled the P5, which is the last vehicle in our prototype phase. With the prototype phase completed, we began the transition to our Engineering Series vehicles in January of this year. The E-Series vehicles will be used for safety and durability testing and will allow us to make enhancements and improvements to the final vehicle. Our Engineering team completed the engineering for the E-Series vehicles in April.

With the engineering completed we announced the opening of our Pilot Operation Center in Livonia, Michigan, where the E-Serie vehicles are assembled. Our Pilot Operation Center is the birthplace of the vehicles that are sent to our blue-chip supplier partners for testing and validation.

The first E-Series vehicle, the E1a, was completed and revealed in July. Our CEO, Paul Elio, unveiled the E1a to a crowd of our supplier partners and other distinguished guests. The E1a was then lent to Continental, the supplying partner that will be calibrating the anti-lock braking on the vehicle.

In September, we were pleased to announce that we shipped another E-Series vehicle, the E1d, to our HVAC supplier RedDOT for testing of the vehicle’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. A month later, we updated our supporters on the status of the testing. The E1d performed admirably when put to the test. This testing will allow us to make further refinements to the vehicle for an optimum cabin experience.

Unveiling the P5 at the 2015 LA Auto Show was a huge step forward, but revealing the E1c at this year’s show was an even larger accomplishment. The E1c was assembled using more than 80 percent soft tooling, demonstrating the manufacturability of the final vehicle. The E1c also features many improvements from the P5, such as the unibody frame, modified suspension, and safety management system. The E1c represents a major step forward in our progress.

Engineering and manufacturing our E-Series vehicles will ultimately allow us to produce the best possible vehicle, which is why it is the number 1 Elio Motors Milestone of 2016. We are continuing to make progress and we look forward to sharing more of our progress in the New Year.

Thank you for your support.
Happy New Year Elio Owners
