$2.00 per gallon (a bit more than I paid yesterday...)
$308.00 in gas

This doesn't count other expenses, like food, lodging, and oil changes.

Would also have to account for different gas prices along the way which I think (but haven't researched) are gonna be more than what most of us in the US pay on average. Not a huge difference but noticeable.

Plus quality of fuel; you may not get the good stuff all the time; so add in dumping a tank or three, flushing the system, and fill again with something you know will burn (I don't think vodka qualifies).
Any time I have seen someone do a cross continent trip (like north pole to south pole) they always run diesel. Seems to be a little bit more accessible and available.
