Some recent threads got me to thinking about an Interesting study done about 50 years ago. The subject: delayed gratification.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_marshmallow_experiment

So which "type" are you? :)

I would believe that Everyone who has placed any money down on an Elio... is a type 2 marshmallow...

We are all waiting for the " treats for the streets "...

On the other side of this story, Everyone who has placed any money down on an Elio... is a dreamer....

We all dream of a better and cheaper way to travel with an Elio... A World without dreamers... is a World that stands still....

Dreamers change and shape the World we live in... Keep being a Dreamer... it makes the World a better place to live for us all...

We are all helping Paul Elio & Elio Motors start a new movement towards change... less money spent on oil, more movement of people for less, more small business will build up, do to peoples new spending and driving habits... more small jobs... it is a start....

Let me see... would I like to spend the money I save on gas from driving an Elio... on more oil products... or something I really want...

Over 35,000 dreamers ... are signed up now... and We are all waiting for the... Second Marshmallow...

Proud to Be... an Elio owner #2225 see ya on the road... " give me a wave "

Studies like this have always amazed me! The most recent one, the bigger the diamond on the engagement ring the shorter the marriage! Guess that explains why my relationship with my wife has lasted 30 years. The first 29 years our commitment bands had 4 tiny diamond chips and our wedding rings don't have any stones at all. Guess that puts me in the delayed satisfaction category! If I can wait 29 years to get married, I can wait a year or more for a car!:D

It likely will not shock the regular members to hear that in general I would be a 2.

I am well known for my strategic thinking and delayed gratification skills going back to childhood. While in grade school I figured out that I could save some of the candy and chocolates I received at home and take them to school where I would sell them to other kids and this way supplement my allowance. This eventually did get me in trouble as the money many kids had was actually their lunch money and if they spent it elsewhere they would not have enough money for lunch. It would appear that even at that age I had figured out how being a #2 could give me an advantage over the #1's.

To this day among my friends and family I am well known for being that crazy person who can actually take a week to eat a single chocolate bar. I am one of the few who actually uses the lines and breaks the bar up then only eat a section or two each day before putting the rest back into the refrigerator. This way I can buy my chocolate at the discount store and enjoy my treat every day without spending too much money all while eating it in moderation so it does not have a negative effect on my health. So I guess being a #2 allows me to have my chocolate and eat it also. :D:cool:

I used to eat my 70% Divine Dark Chocolate bar a tiny bite by tiny bite per square. I could eat that one square in a couple of minutes and feel like I had eaten a full bar. I order it by the case from Serrv International every month from April/May to October/November depending on the weather. I don't order in the summer because shipping rates triple. I allow myself 15 bars per month and eat a square after every meal, (30/case) and that stretches those purchases over the year. If I run out, tough luck. A definite case of having my chocolate and eating it too. :-) Z
