I like the looks, but don't see any reason for it, unless you're gonna go off road, (in good weather), but it doesn't seem to have a reason to be on the road, let alone an interstate, but each his own, boys for toys don't need a rational explanation- enjoy!!
Next year you might get enough on a resale to buy the Elio!!(LOL)

That is cute. Reminds me of the Suzuki Samurai, except the Samurai seats 4...and has heat. Curious tho, they list several different models, but when I clicked on the "parts" link, they only have one model. How long have they been in business? I also noticed, in their "dealers" list, seems like they are (mostly) "powersports" dealers. And you say it is street legal? So, it must meet dot "new vehicle" requirements.

I just did a quick BBB search. It appears they have been "accredited" since December of '14, and have 1 (unresolved) complaint.

Sorry to have to say this, but after much soul searching I've decided to spend my fun money elsewhere. I still believe the Elio has a shot at being produced and I'm pulling hard for them to succeed because I believe America needs this vehicle. Nevertheless this was going to be my hobby car, my fun vehicle and I'm not getting any younger. I've been looking at the Oreion motors, Reeper 4x4 for a year or so now and it's a cute and fun little vehicle. It's a true 4x4 with locking differentials. Like the Elio it has a 3 cylinder engine of 812cc making 53 hp. In city driving it gets between 40-45 miles per gallon making it nearly as efficient as the Elio is supposed to be. But with the Reeper I get the added benefit of throwing it into 4-wheel drive and tearing off across the sand or the mud. And let's face it...the Reeper is here now and has a good track record. So good luck to all of you. I'll check back in from time to time to see how things are progressing.

Don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out ........

Nice ! Not sure where you live Mark but the Reeper has a $1000 option for a standard radiator heater . Or , you can buy a 12volt plug-in heater for much less .
12 Volt heaters only put out 175 Watts of heat vs. the 4000+ Watts a radiator heater puts out. They are almost useless in a hard-top small car and would be totally useless in the Reeper. I speak from experience. The radiator heater would be the way to go.

They've been around since 2010.

The vehicles apparently do not meet federal motor vehicle standards, but instead are licensed state-by-state as "street legal ATV/UTV", or "street legal off-highway vehicle". Looks like under a certain size and weight and has to have lights, mirrors, signals, horn. There are also restrictions on where they can be driven. Utah for example doesn't allow them to be driven on freeways and some highways, and streets in Salt Lake County.

This is about the coolest vehicle this fits into the Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) niche that I have seen. Problem I have with these is that to get to a store or a place to eat or get a drink from my house I have to go down a stretch of road with a 45mph speed limit.
Too fast to be legal in one of these here. http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/rulings/lsv/lsv.html

I loved my Samurai, it was beautifully built, super comfortable, but slow as s **t. Couldn't commute with it AAMOF Suzuki built great inexpensive but quality cars -my last product- Bergman 650 (beautiful, but to my chagrin wasn't a bike) sold it for a V Rod -best bike ever!!!

If you are a polar bear. No heat.
Most owners are having a 28,000 BTU heater installed from Summit Racing. Easy mod to do by splicing into the coolant lines. They drive these things in deep snow all the time. Fun little vehicle if you like to tinker, otherwise the dealer can do the install. Lots of aftermarket goodies such as hard tops available.

The Oreion Reeper is titled as an LSV (low speed vehicle) thus exempt from DOT requirements such as needing a rear bumper or back up lights. I'm having the dealer fabricate a rear bumper for me. As I said they're a fun vehicle if you like to tinker around. They have quite a strong following on the forum much like the Elio does. The difference is their Forum is full of interesting stories, pictures and videos of Reepers actually driving and having fun.

Yeah...you're absolutely correct but...;)

In Maryland they're working with the legislature to up the registration to class-M, which is 50 mph. This would cover all roads but the highways and who would want to drive one of these there? The way I see it this is not too different from what Elio is trying to accomplish with their helmet law initiative. I think governments should get out of the damn way and stop trying to save us from ourselves.
