Picking Up The Elio....

Looking at Google Maps, there's a Motel 6 less than 4 miles from the assembly plant entrance. I wonder if they have any idea that about a year from now (hopefully) they might see a noticeable bump in one night stays?

For those of us that would like to pick up at the plant and get a tour while we're there a day trip might be a little too much, or mean the tour has to be too short.

I get plenty of chances to do the casino thing here on the gulf coast, and I rarely ever go.

I believe I read (somewhere) they were talking about comping the cost of the flight and casino hotel stay for a few nights, so you could:

fly-in free
(night one)
get a tour and pick up your Elio
(night two)
have a day to drive around and decide if you really want it
(night three)
then drive it away, or otherwise make transportation arraingements at your own expense.

I think the belief was that people high off of getting their new, awesome, cheap car will be a little more willing to spend money at the casino. However, I never heard any word on wether this deal (if it ever comes to pass) was just for the $1000 all-ins, or the lower levels as well.

And it was definately "Comp", as in, you pay and then EM comps you the expense.

I'm not sure, all I remember is a good feeling when the bidding war ended and the new owners of Pep Boys (I thought) had affiliations with a casino group in Shreveport.

My plan is to take an overnight Greyhound. Show up at the plant early, take a tour, have lunch with the folks that built my Elio, sit down with the $$ people, and be on the road 2 p.m., and home by 9;00. Best laid plans.

I'll be flying up with a friend who has his own airplane, about a two hour flight from Gulfport. We both take a tour of the plant. He's not looking to buy one but still interested in the possibility of a tour. Take care of the paperwork and then I take him back to the airport so he can fly home while I drive back to the coast.

Timing, weather, planned tour duration and any number of factors could throw a monkey in my wrench.
