about the only residual affects we see is the wide range in prices posted on stations in our area .... while we were out and about this morning we saw posted prices ranging from $2.09 to $2.45 .... most around $2.15

That's when an app like "Gasbuddy" really comes in handy!
I use Gas Buddy all the time. it's useful locally to find bargains nearby (it's not worth using 1 gallon to drive to a station saving only $1.00 per tank!). It's also great on long trips, where exits may have very different price structures.

If you use it, try to be a contributor as well. Gas Buddy works by crowd-updating to find and verify prices. It's the same way Google Maps locates traffic slow-downs -- all those if a slew of cars' GPS units are reporting a drop in average speed, Google can calculate real-time traffic situations. Gas Buddy does something of the same with gas prices, but it's not automatic -- it takes a willing crowd to keep it up to date.I don't know if Gas Buddy is iOS, since I use it on Android, but it's worth checking out at any rate.

True. I always update it when I stop for gas (or diesel). If I'm a passenger, I sometimes update other stations as I see prices. There was a place out in the middle of Nebraska, I believe (I was headed here from Albuquerque) where I was about out of fuel. There were three stations that showed up on Gas Buddy but not on Google maps. One of the places was really a farming tractor oil supplier that had highway legal diesel about $0.35 cheaper a gallon than the other 2 stations in town. That adds up when you are putting 32 gallons in!
