I HAVE USED DRAIN VALVES ON MY SUMPS FOR YEARS .
NOT A NEW IDEA , THEY HAD THEM 100 YEARS AGO ON FORD MODEL Ts !

YOU HAVE TO LIFT THE LEVER BEFORE YOU CAN TURN IT .
I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THESE .

I've also used the the Fumoto valve on my cars for over 20 years, but use the model with the extension on it that allows you to connect a small hose on it during the oil change to make your oil draining a no mess affair.

Fram Sure Drain... I have three vehicles equipped with them; a 1992 Miata, a 2006 Toyota Matrix and a 2007 Honda Fit. Installed to the torque spec on the package, and never a problem. I have used the Fumoto valves in the past; the Fram system looked to be less susceptible to road damage. Sorry for your problems with it Ian. :(
