Arnold Palmer died today at 87, the "King of Golf" will be missed.
Here is a really good article on him

I got the chance to meet him once about 30 years ago and he was just one of the most likeable people you could only hope to meet in your lifetime; he wasn't arrogant at all and I think that's a quality you just don't find in "superstars".
He was one of the best that all others hope to be.

Good Bye Arnie, we all loved you.

You know I've never been much of a golfer, but did happen to meet him in the early 80's on a small course in Colorado where I was working as a grounds keeper. (Watched him make a shot I couldn't believe) We had a new mower operator and he didn't give way to the golfers. He mowed the tee and headed straight down the course to the collar, while I apologized for his error (not knowing whom I was talking to) he introduced himself then teed off, with the guy 2/3 if the way to the hole he hit the mower dead on the back of the seat and scared the guy soo bad he went and quit. Arnold told me he didn't want to hurt him, just scare him. Which he did! Then he introduced himself! We talked for a couple minutes after. He was awesome!

Saw that tonight.
My Dad was an avid golfer. He was pretty good too. Arnie was, of course, one of his heros.
They were just about the same age. Arnie outlived him by two years. They'll both continue to be sadly missed.
