Wow! If it is the Jeff on 914club.com, it's a small world. I'm SpecialK over there. Haven't posted there in some time, but still have all three of my "not running at the time" 914's.

My curiosity, and we really won't know until we get our babies, is will this affect the mpg more or less than a small trailer. I suspect less and it should cost less (I hope).Z
Much less effect than a trailer would have -- far less weight to haul, and less friction from rolling resistance of the trailer tires. Much less carrying capacity, though.
strongly agree ..![]()
I believe it was you, Jim, that threw out the "cab-over camper" style drop-in cargo carrier. Haven't had time to mess with it CAD-wise, but it's still my favorite design.![]()
Why don't you just put your 2-3 bags of groceries in the rear seat? I put mine in the passenger seat even though I have a huge trunk. The larger the trunk the more the cans and jars roll all over the place. It would create a lot of vacuum-based turbulence, causing quite a lot of drag. But how about a zip-in version for temporary use?
How about this concept for an optional grocery getter lid?
Simple bolt on to replace the factory lid to at least put some groceries in the rear bonnet.
