I saw this interesting video of a company that took apart the i3, and said there was nothing like it on the market. Take a look at it and see how the i3 cage compares to the elio cage. can wee get even close to what their cage does.

In-short, yes. While the i3 is beautifully engineered, beauty is not required to make a robust frame. It's not rocket surgery...

That beauty costs money too; the i3 is $45,000 (that's 6.6 Elios) configured for similar range.

I can't help but wonder who funded this video and for what reason.
It's about a firm reverse-engineering a BMW but watches like a BMW advertisement, which is strange.

It says Forbes but I wouldn't be surprised if BMW provide the car.

They should now put it back together. I bet it wont work right.

Right, but what's the motivation.
Surely Forbes didn't decide to do a piece on a firm reverse engineering a new BMW product for fun, and that the entire thing sounded like an advertisement isn't an accident. It's just a sort of bizarre piece to me.

Sounds cool.
I wonder how fast it goes and the range it has. How much to replace one of the 12 pack battery modules and how often would that be. Super money talks, but won't even attempt to match what an Elio will bring to the market place.

Beware of a BMW i3 kit car for sale! It was probably one of their crash test prototypes.
