Still seems sketchy . When you go to Jiffy Lube or any other quick oil place, there is usually a line behind you . Even if you pull in partial nose first , you still have an issue backing out . I think I will be syphoning oil myself . Full Synthetic every 3k or 3 months .

No need to change synthetic that often. It's good for 7500+ miles. Save your money

If you use synth oil you can use far less frequent oil changes. My BMW is a diesel and the recommend interval is 15,000 miles. The point of using synth is that it doesn't lose viscosity anywhere near as rapidly as mineral.

If I were changing oil every 3k (and I do so on the Reliant 850 engine in my little car) I'd use mineral simply because I don't like unnecessarily throwing oil money away in the recycling bin.

I've never tried it but I've read that it might actually be safe to change the filter only and leave synth oil in the sump almost indefinitely!

Btw, what does engine oil cost in USA? I've not visited for about ten years or so. The cheapest fully synth oil in UK is about $40 for 5 litres. It's about twice as expensive as mineral oil.

A 5 qt. jug of Mobil1 was right at $40 last time I changed oil in the Suby (6qt capacity). My F250, on the other hand, only gets mineral (RotellaT). With an 18qt capacity and a $15 filter, it eats a Benjamin, and then some. :(

Unless you drive short distances or under extreme condition Standards oils do not need to be changed every 3000 miles it is just a waste of money.
SYN oils do offer some advantages but they are not magic. They do not last forever. Oil get dirty and it loses it's additives over time.
You will have no problem getting your oil changed. If jiffy lube don't want to deal with it then I am betting there are plenty of small local shops that will take you cash.
Over 20 years ago I found a small shop near where my wife works. I set it up they know how many miles she puts on they just go over pick her car up at work service it and drop it back off . They check it over anything that may need to be take care of they do. No phony charges no inflated charges.
Look around you will get your oil changed.

That's fine as long as the body is wider than the pit, as is the case in the video. The Elio on the other hand...?I'm afraid the driver will be staring at the ceiling tiles. Probably too embarrassed to get out of the car.
Along these same lines, I wonder about car washes...? Hmm.. Something new to discuss ad nausium?

In my opinion the 3000 mile oil change interval is likely to change by the time this engine reaches production. I am sure the IAV engineers are well aware of the properties and useful lifespan of modern motor oils so I believe EM is just setting the bar low and giving most people an answer they have likely heard their entire lives and as such they accept readily. This also serves to set expectations low which results in a more positive experience down the line when the final determination is made which will very likely result in a longer oil change interval.
