Routine Oil Changes

I think the oil change establishments have a very vested interested in promoting 3k oil changes
My honda 2011 insight factory recommendation 7k, and it also shows percent of remaining life, should it need it sooner.
I'm happy for whatever makes you happy, if you've been doing 3k since they replaced the magneto fine,
there might be "closet oil changers" who do it 1500miles!!, and others as long as the dash light doesn't go on are happy too!

Changing the oil at 3k may be a waste BUT it is a personal choice. The fact is no one has ever worn out an engine by changing the oil too often.

In UK not many people got to change the oil because the car rusted away before the first oil change was due.

Your funny, Wheaters. I thought you were going to use that as an explanation why so many Brits develop bad teeth. joke joke. Also I had always thought that the only mosquito England has was the venerable de Havilland Mosquito, One of my all time favorite air craft. I guess I got that factoid confused with the one about Ireland having no snakes. lol

I was a passenger in a fairly new car with 20,000 miles on it when the oil pressure idiot light came on. The reason it came on was that the oil had not been changed during the first 20,000 miles. So, Z, the answer to your question would seem to be at least 20,000 miles.
