I have an alternative while we wait for the next 1-2 years on our Elio to be delivered!

NO it is not covered
NO it does not have AC/Heater
NO it does not have reverse
NO it does not go 100+ MPH

Yes it seats two comfortably
Yes it requires a motorcycle license
Yes it gets 80+ MPG
Yes it goes 55 MPH
Yes it has a trunk (small)
Yes it has color options
Yes it is under $7,000
Yes it is delivered to your door

BUT BEST OF ALL --- IT IS FOR SALE NOW !

The Scoot Coupe is fun and economical. I have had mine for 2 years and just love it.
I plan on selling it when I take delivery of my Elio. So I can enjoy the best of both worlds now!
Allstate covers me with full coverage plus PIP for under $450/year here in Texas.

I hope this helps many of you!

Is that $450 per year (as with typical MC insurance) or every 6 months (as with an auto)? Just curious about possible insurance rates for my Elio.

I see they rent them in Friday Harbor in my state of Washington. Looks like fun. As long as it is not raining!

What gives here?
I quote the website... "it can be taken on roads and travel at speeds up to 45 mph."
Also, on one page it says "70 to 80 miles per gallon" and on another it says, "60 to 70 miles per gallon".
The (larger one) 150cc model has 9.28hp.
The 50cc model has 1.9hp. That's less than any push mower I've ever seen.

My '95 250 (249cc) Yamaha Virago has 18hp and will cruise all day long @ 72 mph and above.
It gets 72mpg in the city and gets close to 80mpg highway.
It has a ton of low-end torque and costs $59.27 a year to insure.
I bought it for $1500 and put around $500 of tasteful bling on it.

Actually, in all fairness, it looks like a fine 3-wheeled scooter.
I'm less than 5.5 miles from work and none of that route is posted above 45mph, so the 150cc model would work just fine. However, the stability factor would be the only thing that would make me buy one over one of the many 250 Viragos with less than 3,000 miles available on Craig's List @ just over 1/4 the price of a new 150cc Scoot Coupe.
