Postulate: Elio could do quite well in the foreign markets.
One of the many factors that contribute to success in a market is the cost of shipping. In this discussion the shipping issues will be limited to container shipping. The cost can be minimized by maximizing the space utilization of the shipping container.
Goal: Determine the optimal vehicle configuration in a shipping container for each shipping container size available. Then post the configuration on this thread.
Method: Get a computer aided design (CAD) guru to determine the optimal configuration. The "T" shape of the Elio presents the interesting possibility of placing vehicles in groups of two. The rear wheel of the first vehicle will be as close to the left side of the container as possible thus creating a "V" shaped area to the right of the vehicle. The second vehicle will be facing the opposite direction with the rear wheel as close to the right side of the container as possible. The rear of the second vehicle will be occupying as much of the "V" shaped area as possible. The benefit of this solution is that two Elios can be placed in a space that is less than the length of two Elios.

Please note that the width of the Elio is not provided. The distance between the outer sides of the fenders is needed. The closest width measurement is the front wheel track, center rim to center rim. The minimum spacing between the vehicles needs to be determined.
