Ohhh.... ok.... According to you 123db is ok, but 150 is not ? ? ? Since when are YOU the authority on what is acceptable, and what is not ?
123db is pretty loud, but I didn't know that was the "cutoff" for "appropriate".... Thanks for enlightening us all......
I never said I was the authority. Not sure where you got that. My opinion that 150+ dB horns don't belong on street cars is based on likelihood that a horn that loud can cause permanent hearing damage to bystanders. I stand by that opinion. There is no safe exposure time to any sound that loud.

You may not know that a 3 dB increase in volume is a doubling of the sound level. So 150 dB is nine times as loud as 123 dB.

Don't forget that it's a motorcycle and your traffic strategy should reflect that. Translation: Don't hang out in somebody's blind spot.

Sometimes you don't have to even "hang out" in someone's blind spot to get caught in one. I was in a big SUV and was in the unfortunate situation of having someone cut over 3 lanes, right into my lane..... Sure, It is wise to avoid blindspots, but sometimes you don't have that choice.

Just because something can be used in a bad way, does that mean that you won't use it?

There are plenty of examples of things that can be misused, and cars are just one of them.... If a bad guy runs someone over with a car, are you going to totally avoid cars ? Of course not. The same goes with having a loud horn. I would never do the crap that you see in the videos, because I wouldn't want to risk having someone get pissed off and throw a rock at my car, or worse. At the same time, if someone doesn't see me in their blind spot, which is bound to happen to most people that drive Elio's eventually, I'd like to have a horn loud enough so that they can hear me.... Regular horns often don't cut it, especially if the driver is listening to loud music on their stereo.
I will only use that horn if I own a big truck! Getting someone rattled for inattention (their fault) and causes a road rage, in an Elio, you don't stand a chance! You said it yourself, why take the risk of someone getting pissed off and throw rock at your precious ELIO! But if it'll make you safer, heck, install 3 of them and get back to us how it work out for you...that is when you get your ELIO!:D
