I finally got rid of my 'blue face' screen with an upgrade to Wife 3.0. I'm hugely happier. She accepted my program mods really well!

That one should never have gone out, even as a 'beta'! It was rife with code bombs and back-door viral-wear.! :-)
Never judge a program by it's sleek and attractive user interface!

I had one of those too!!!!!!
Then went to an early 3.0 and found out it was mislabeled; it was a hybrid of wife 2.0 with a girlfriend 1.8 as an add-on which made the Wife 3.0 I got turn into a Wife 2.5 after 5 years and it went down in flames smoking corrupt (aka crazy)
So far Wife 4.0 is great; has a few bad days where it has to be reset, but nothing major.

WIFE 1.0 INCOMPATIBILITIES: If you try to install Lover 1.1 before desinstalling Wife 1.0, this erases the files MS-Money, and after it desinstalls itself. Then Lover 1.1 won't install, claiming that system resources are too low. To avoid this effect, try to install Lover 1.1 in a different environment and never run a file transfer application, like LipStickSpot 6.0. Also try to avoid renting applications, because it's known that they can transmit viruses that can affect Wife 1.0. Another solution is to run Lover 1.1 through a network provider with and anonimous name. Once again, avoid viruses that can be accidentally loaded.

Still running Wife 1.0 without issues [35 yrs]. I'm no computer expert, but it sounds like you guys have 'hard drive' problems.
