What Is The Clearance Between The Tires On The Wheel Wells?

I also hope the fenders are strengthened enough so the composite material of which they are made, does not crack from road vibration.

It is my understanding that the fenders will be made from the same material as the body panels so it should hold up quite well.

If they offer open wheel fenders like on the P3. will these handle snow better? Will these be made of metal or composite?

Originally I did not like the current fender nor the dark composite material at the back of the vehicle and back of the wheel wells. Now I like that design. The human eye is accustomed to seeing a wheel at the front and back . With the P3 design, it seemed something was missing at the back of the vehicle. Now the two dark composite materials make the front and back seem balanced and there is no feeling that something is missing.

Don't forget, friction normally keeps snow from locking the tire to the inside of the fender, the fender will shave off the snow and ice on the outside, plus, the fender turns with the tire where it dose not on a car.JMO

My Liege has very close fitting front fenders. They are so close that after I fitted different tires with a taller profile (same nominal size, different make) I had to reverse the bolts holding the fenders to the steel support brackets because I could smell burning rubber after the tires "grew" a bit at fast cruising speed. The bolt tails were being touched by the tires!

Anyway, I've driven it in deep snow and it's never caused a problem. The tires grind off any snow and ice and the wheels keep going round.

That said, I am willing to believe that the fenders turning with the wheels will help reduce the issue.

If wheaters does not have a problem with snow, snow is not even an issue with the Elio.

No, it's not a big problem. The Elio will have the advantage of the engine and transmission weight over the driven front wheels, too, so with decent tires all should be well in the traction department. But all vehicles have their limitations and the Elio will have it's own, too.
