One of the better videos to illustrate the issue. On this 'Marotti' trike notice how the rear wheel is tipping more than the body is rolling, losing about half of it's ground contact. The rear arm is twisting badly, but it's the power end of things. Less of an issue if it were not the power end.

This vehicle can't help but rip tread-off. He thinks it's cool but it's actually very poor traction that gets hugely worse in rain and, heaven forbid, in snow or ice. And it's worse because at times it's an unpredictable set of dynamics.

The Trirod below would even be worse that the Moratti Trike, but because the front end is way too lightly loaded with lots of excess HP. Less burnout, but more roll-over. Pop a wheelie, which is possible, and you could die, easily. Others have been there-done-that.

This is not how an Elio would behave.

think they traction control was off when they did that though...but still its a vicious looking roll.

Traction control is like aspirin, fixes the symptoms to some degree, but not the decease. It definitely has it's limits. Like anything else, you trade off what you want and get the results you feel you can live with.
I want good engineering cooked in, plus I'll take the traction control.
