I believe its trying to raise money they need for the bridge between now and the gov't loan

I believe either placement for the amount will help elio. The placement on the crownd funding will encourage that funding 'channel'. The reservation moneys will add to the EM activities which ultimately contribute to the progress of engine and crash-test programs.

Either way it encourages the other funding programs, private as well as government.

I have to agree with the naysayers on this one point, don't put money in you aren't willing to put at risk. And put some effort into analyzing the risk,
