You've Just Gotten Your Elio What Do You Do First?

I'll probably drive it from Shreveport to Omaha with my wife following in her car (Her folks live in Shreveport and she'll probably want to visit). I'll drive it home and tint the windows most likely. Then, I'll probably wash and wax it. Eventually, I'll probably have to put gas in it but I'm not thinking THAT far into the future just yet! :D I may decide to spray the front (and the wheel pods) with that 3M clear protectant.

Do you start "customizing" it yourself?
Do you take it to get it detailed/painted/modified?
Do you just go for a very long drive?

I'm going for a very long drive! and I can't wait! I'm even planning on picking it up at the factory so I have an excuse for a road trip.

I'm planning on a combo train/road trip. Pickup in Shreveport, but I will take the Texas Eagle from Chicago to Longview, Texas. From there, Amtrak has a bus to Shreveport that will drop you either at the bus station or the airport. Leaving Shreveport, maybe a trip to central Texas to visit friends (and show the autocycle off!), then back to Shreveport to take US 71 north through the Ozarks. Oh, and maybe stop for gas somewhere past Joplin, Missouri. :p:D

If you have the bus drop you off at the airport, the Horseshoe Casino (and probably whichever one Elio works with) has a free shuttle. Once at the Casino/Hotel, Elio will pick you up and take you to the plant on the day of your pick-up.

Excellent thread. Interesting information on how folks plan arrive in Shreveport to collect their new autocycle, and then how they plan to get it home. Taking a tool kit sounds like a great idea - it may be some distance between PepBoys locations, and they are unlikely to have any actual parts in hand until many months after deliveries begin.
I have an 818 mile drive home, but it shouldn't be ugly. I will make two driving days out of it, day one stopping in for a couple nights at the Navy Lodge in Pensacola, Florida. On day two I will park in front of the National Naval Aviation Museum across the street from the Navy Lodge during the day, and enjoy the museum. Then stop in at the Tallahassee Antique Auto Museum for lunch on the third day.
One of the possibilities I have considered is a wrap that uses Naval aircraft markings. Maybe.
