RMCClubfitter, welcome back! I tried to leave, came back, tried to leave again and came back. :)
I like the Elio concept.

As far as keeping up, after 8 years following EM, I feel I'm in exactly the same place I was 2-3 years ago when I made a reservation deposit. The old GM Hummer Plant Equipment was probably too outdated to be of much value. Robots seem to be the wave of the auto manufacturing future.
That plant was one of GM's most modern plants. As far a facilities go, Elio couldn't have done better. The equipment there is modern enough that it won't need replacing for quite some time.

I know it's perfect for EM. My comment related the value of any used equipment they can't use. That was then this is now.

I am happy if it's true that the government is actually being fiscally responsible, but...

Elio is not the first company to get an ATVM loan. Did Fisker have to jump through this many hoops for their $528 million dollar loan? or Tesla for their $465 million loan?

Fisker had nothing in production and got their loan in 2009... they didn't get a car out the door until 2011. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisker_Automotive)

It just seems to me that we should be further along in the ATVM process by now. These aren't "free money" loans, they have conditions and must be re-paid. Tesla had at least sold some cars by the time they got their loan. By now they should have given Paul an amount and some milestones to meet, and Paul should be waiting for the right time to sign.

So in summation, Fisker sucks, Elio is a much better gamble, and I think the dopes in charge of the ATVM program are stalling.:D

You might say that Fisker ruined it a bit for later applicants. I can remember that questions were asked, sour comments were made in Congress and the media, because of the loan deal that Fisker received.

Lots of fishy stuff going on in the wonderful world of innovative transportation options, but knowing Derwin he is taking his time to make the new FTRC bigger and better.

Just talked to Carver... The engineer I talked to, wasn't aware of Helix Motors. He told me that they did not extend one patent. But other were still being upheld.

The Helix is based on the proven engineering platform of Vanden Brink's DVC technology. It was used and road tested in over 200 hand built CarverOnes years ago. VandenBrink has made improvements on the original DVC.
Price? Cost for counterintuitive handling? I believe that the overriding theme is to create this century's people's car...this century's VW Bug. Innovative solutions and technology for the masses not the overserved financial elite...so Elio Motors should meet that criteria.
