I love to ride when I can, but in Northern Michigan we don't just get wet on a bad day, it's below zero much of the year. Open riding is just NOT a survivable option. And those long-legged-brown-forest-rats (affectionately referred to as 'deer'), make riding during commuting hours very reminiscent of a casual game of russian roulette. Sooner or later.... BLAM!

Presently licensed in Alaska. Have toured a good part of the Alaska road system and made a trip down the ALCAN Hwy two years ago then back to Alaska this summer on a "AirHead" BMW. Farm Boy has it right, my Elio will be equipped with Driver LEDs for night driving. On my Feb trip (2 wheel Toyota truck) with the LEDs saw Elk, Moose, Deer (White Tail & Mule) and Woods Bison. Not saying that I wouldn't have seen them without the LEDs but they certainly stood out when hit with the Drivers. Also saw a Wolverine that I would not have seen with the Toy head lights!
Have a set of ATV tracks (wheel replacement) in the basement that I need to mount on the Honda Foreman. Looking at the Elio, I can easely imagine a set on the front with a fixed ski - with a skag- replacing the back wheel. There is probably a place on the frame where the bar that keeps the track from flipping over could be attached. Forum member "Outtaget1" has part of this idea in his "Avatar". A thought for future use, down the road or trail!
I'm 74 yrs. young. Next yr. will be 60yrs. as a motorcyclist. Have ridden thousands of miles in the US&Canada. You name it ,iv'e owned one. Never meet a motorcycle I didn't like lol.
Looking forward to the ELIO for those cold & rainy days and I don't have to put my feet down!!

Age and medical issues have made my decision so that I can no longer ride motorcycles. I have had 3 steroid injections in the spine in the last year and my arthritis restricts my riding as well and that's where the Elio comes in. You just can't beat the price of an Elio. With front wheel drive and a low center of gravity you should be able to take the curves just about as good as a motorcycle.

You have made a wise decision for the same reasons many of us did as well. Older, wiser, medical issues, and desire for more comfort.

I agree... mostly. Wanting to "avoid" medical issues. An accident on a bike is just too costly, In several ways. I am old enough to realize that serious injuries don't just happen to "other people". The Elio JUST MAKES SENSE!
