Goofy, I've seen the skywalk on TV and got weak kneed then! I'll get there eventually, wife has already been there, so no hurry for her!

The skywalk is definitely not for everyone! I guess I am just one of the crazy ones who does not care and just stepped right on out onto the skywalk however I quickly realized I was alone and turned around to find my sister and mother frozen on edge of the glass looking down 2000 feet. I ended up giving them a hand and helping them out after showing off a bit by jumping up and down on it.:D

The rest of the Grand Canyon truly is amazing even if the skywalk may be a bit extreme for some tastes.

The Grand Canyon is amazing and awe inspiring no matter what and you would be surprised what you could handle. For my 30th birthday my parents, my sister, my brother-in-law, and myself visited Las Vegas and even included some time on the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. My father and brother-in-law do not like heights at all so they did not get too close to the edge or opt for the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which is a glass floored horseshoe shaped structure which extends out over the canyon, however they still absolutely loved the our time there including the helicopter tour we took into and out of the canyon so we could ride a boat down the Colorado river inside the canyon.
Just don't hike the entire Bright Angel Trail from rim to rim in a single day. Trashed my knees and had hypothermia by the time I was done (rain/snow/sleet/hail - 25 degrees at the top & 85 degrees by the river), a hiker that passed me 3 hours before came back down to get me because they hadn't seen me reach the rim (thank you).

I went on the skywalk on a different trip, not too impressed, but might have been good without the dozens of people on it at the time.

Don't know why, can't handle heights anymore.....as a kid was a monkey, climbed trees, took risks. Maybe age slows you down? But I definitely can't handle heights anymore (never bothered me in my younger years) but now I don't know what you call it, I'm getting to be like my mom. Whenever she got close to a cliff she feels the NEED to JUMP!

I can't explain it, but I'm starting to feel that way too........and the older I get the stronger the feeling is to jump.

Didn't hear about the fire, sad. Did they manage to save the Incline railway? Love the Gorge, first went there in about 1951.
The Royal Gorge incline was burned up, but I believe it is scheduled to be up and running again soon. The first responders did an amazing job saving the bridge, only about 10 feet on one side burned. The rest of the area was leveled.... It is amazing how fires like that hit one area and skip another....

Wow, I am glad someone helped you on that trail as I know it is not an easy one at all. I did the Bright Angel Trail years ago as a teenager and it was a lot of fun at the time however I think I would be riding a mule if I did it now. :)

When we did the skywalk is was mostly empty so we had a great jumping and rolling around on it and such. For those of you who who not know what the skywalk is here is a photo looking down on it from above:

I look forward to driving the million dollar highway. US 550 I think. It'll lead up to driving the Continental divide!
The last time I took the trip was over 20 yrs. ago. 2 1/2 kids and the Wife in the front seat of my 72 Chevy truck. LOL.
4 corners, San Juan valley, the drive was exellent!
It joines Hwy 50 in Montrose, therefore giving me a nice direct path back home..
It'll be even better in my Elio.;)
